YouTube

As I write this my Venetian Window mural video on YouTube has now had just over 10,000 hits and my channel has 48 subscribers.

I am long overdue with regards to putting another video together - I have an idea for a canvas I would like to paint and it may be fun to film the process as well. All I need now is to find the time : )

That's a fantastic achievement, Chris. I'm not surprised this has had so many hits - I don't think I've ever seen a brick effect so well painted.

Very interested to see you do a painting on canvas - looking forward to it.

Thanks Julie - I'm actually planning to do an orange tree in a niche, its been a while since I've painted such a thing but I have it all planned out (ish) in my head.

Hello! I'm writing to you from Hungary. I like your brick effect a lot! What kind of pain do you use? Can you do it with oil or rather use acrylic?
Congratulations for your beautiful work!

Hi Detti - thanks for your comments.

I have used emulsion & artists acrylics to paint this mural. The paints were greatly thinned so the effect could be built up in washes and glazes - I'm sure it would work just as well (or better) in oils.

Dear Chris,
Thanks. Of course I meant "paint" :-). What kind of emulsion did you use? I will try to find an equivalent in Hungary. Did you mix it with the paint? How did you prepare the wall?
(Hope you don't mind my questions).

A good quality matt emulsion like Dulux would be perfect for preparing the wall.

The artist acrylics I use are Daler-Rowney System 3 and Winsor & Newton Galeria.
The colours I have used are Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Raw Sienna, Flesh Tint and Paynes Grey and I mix these in with the white emulsion (all water based).
